July 1st, 2014-July 1st, 2015: W.K. Rose Fellowship Year:

I’ve been awarded a generous grant by Vassar College to write for the year! They give it to one creative artist each year to be free to work on their art. I will have fewer concerts this year than normal, since I’ll be traveling most of the time working on my new orchestral project. You can read the W.K. Rose announcement here.

May 29th, 2015, 9:00pm: ShoutHouse CityScapes, the cell theatre.

ShoutHouse returns to the cell with tons of new music, featuring works about life in the city. Hear the driving, dissonant grooves of Andy Akiho’s to “wALk Or ruN in wEst harlem” and the energy of Will Healy’s “ANTS!”. The program will include four world premieres, including Alex Goldberg’s “Middle Chapters”, Alex Burtzos’ jazzy new piece, titled “Love, Loss, Loathing, and Lizards,” two premieres by Will Healy, and works by Timo Andres, Marc Mellits, and Jesse Greenberg. The show features rapper Jai Issa and soprano Mikaela Bennett. Tickets are $10 at the door. the cell is located at 338 W. 23rd St., New York, NY. 

May 9th, 2015, 7:30pm : Leschetizky Association Benefit Concert at the Tenri Cultural Insitute

I will be performing two of my solo piano works: My Etudes for Melancholy Robots 1-3 and the first Nocturne for Jamie.

March 11th, 2015, 7:30pm: ShoutHouse Album Release Show at the DiMenna Center

ShoutHouse celebrates our new album with a show at the DiMenna Center, featuring two world premieres, one by me and the other commissioned from composer Jack Gulielmetti. We will also perform Nicholas Omiccioli’s push/pull, Nico Muhly’s Doublespeak, and works from the album. Alex Burtzos will conduct, and soloists include spiritchild, Jai Issa, a.Piff, Julia Anrather, Connell Thompson, and Julian Soto.

For the past year, I’ve been working with ShoutHouse on our debut album. It consists of five of my compositions, featuring MC’s Jai Issa and a.Piff, soprano Julia Anrather, saxophonist/clarinetist Connell Thompson, and chamber orchestra. Chris Connors masterfully engineered it, and it will be released on Bandcamp on 2/15/15. Thank you again to everyone who donated to our Kickstarter to make this project possible!

January 17th, 2015, 7:30 pm: James Nyoraku Schlefer and Classical Jam at Tenri Cultural Institute

The innovative ensemble Classical Jam with Yumi Kurosawa, koto and James Nyoraku Schlefer, shakuhachi, performing an eclectic array of commissions, improvisations and new music combining koto, shakuhachi, flute, violin, viola, cello and percussion. Featuring the world premieres of KSA commissions by William Healy and James Nyoraku Schlefer. Tickets

October 29th, 2014: Mischief Night-Eve with ShoutHouse! Shapeshifter Lab, 18 Whitwell Place, Brooklyn, NY

ShoutHouse is back at Shapeshifter Lab for a night of new music, ranging from hip hop verses by a.Piff and Jai Issa to a John Adam’s string quartet. Included on the program will be a world premiere by composer Jesse Greenberg, Will Healy’s works from the upcoming debut album, and excerpts from John Adams’ “Book of Alleged Dances”. Featured artists include MC’s Jai Issa, a.Piff, singer Julia Anrather, and clarinetist/saxophonist Connell Thompson. Tickets are $10 at the door

September 28th, 2014, 3:00pm: Trio Les Amies at The Gypsy Trail Club, Carmel, NY

Principal players from the New York Philharmonic Nancy Allen, Cynthia Phelps, and Carol Wincenc, perform a program including Debussy’s trio for flute, viola, and harp, as well as recently commissioned arrangements by William Healy of the traditional English Ballad “Scarborough Fair” and Ibert’s Entr’Acte.


May 31st, 2014:  New York Philharmonic Biennial Celebration: The Very Young Composers of the New York Philharmonic and Teaching Artists. Location: Merkin Hall.

Works by Jake O’Brien, Samantha Darris, Daniela Melo, Elli Choi, Eric Poretsky, Ethan Cohn, Jack Gulielmetti, Will Healy, Nick Chomowicz, Milo Poniewozik, Farah Taslima, Julian Galesi, Richard Carrick, David Wallace.

May 21st, 2014: To celebrate our newly funded Kickstarter, we are putting on a show at the cell theatre, showcasing new works from the upcoming album!

There will be six world premieres: three by Will Healy, two by Jesse Greenberg, and one by Aaron Ewing. We will also be performing Judd Greenstein’s “Four on the Floor” string quartet. Tickets are $10 at the door. Featuring conductor Alex Burtzos, with Jai Issa and Julia Anrather on vocals.

April 16th, 7:30pm:

Nancy Allen, principal harpist, NY Philharmonic, and her students perform Shostakovich’s Concertino for 2 pianos, Op. 92, arranged for three harps by William Healy. Location: Kosciuzko Foundation, 15 East 65th st.
